As part of Wilk's Lupi series this was proably on of the better books. Quick paced, quirky, with a likeable heroine and a great hero, it's a pleasant read. I make sure that as books are added to this series I get them asap.

Described as paranormal romance, but there's suspense here, too. Interesting mythology.

I like the Chinese police officer but found the pace of this book boring and easy to put down. Now that I've read the 6th book in the series, I will pick it back up for another read.

I really like this series because it is not just a story full of random bouts of sex. Wilks is developing a story. I like the characters, and she keeps bringing new ones in, where the focus is no longer about Rule and Lily's mate bond, but about a team as a whole. And they all have real problems along with the "other worldly" ones they are brought together to fight. This book dragged a little for me, but not enough to give up on the series.

This book as a tendency to hope around a bit but it's still awfully good. I'll certainly read the next one.

Dear Reader.

It's been a little over three months since I met Rule.

Lily and Rule have escaped from Hell(Dis) and are working with the Secret Service to uncover politicians that are using demon magic. During a night out at the Kennedy Center, a wave of magic causes a musician to shift into a werewolf. In the aftermath, Lily and Rule are escorting him home when another wave shows a demon slashing at people on the street. Rule attempts to subdue the demon and the musician in killed. Meanwhile, Cullen is in Mexico chasing dragons and Cynna is in church confessing her sins.

It had been so long since I read the previous book that I had to refer back to it often. I understand that there were a couple of short stories/novellas that came before this book as well. I enjoy the dark world that the author creates. I felt that I became better acquainted with Lily and Rule. Oh, and Cullen and Cynna. It is wonderful to see the dance between them! Despite Cynna's protests, she is really being set up to be the next Rhej of the Nokolai. (The end of the book pretty much cements that deal!). Grandmother is always a welcome character. She is like an onion that you keep peeling only to discover more depth.

I hope to read the next book fairly soon (and not wait 6 years-geezz!) to catch up with all things Lupi.

A good solid read! 3.5 stars

Touch-sensitive FBI agen Lily Yu and her werewolf bond-mate are recruited by the Secret Service to help identify elected officials who have accepted demonic pacts. But Lily must turn to fellow agen Cynna Weaver for help when Cynna's former teacher, a demon master, emerges as the main suspect behind the pacts.

After a demon commits a gruesome murder, sorcerer Cullen Seabourne joins the team racing the clock to find the apprentice of evil who uses demons to kill. Cynna and Cullen must work together -- a challenge indeed when each has good reason to ignore the desire simmering between them. But passion and events both spiral out of control as an ancient prophecy is fulfilled -- and the lupi's greatest enemy sets her sights on total devastation...
