First, the author is a very good narrator, so that is a plus. Second, the story starts off with her very interesting childhood. It holds interest far into her adulthood and growth and career. I liked it a lot. But then occasionally she talked too much, or I was losing interest, because it lagged enough that I almost quit it. I also questioned her feelings for her mother, but that is no reason to judge a book. I loved most of the parts when she was in Italy, and the book truly ended beautifully enough that if there were a sequel, I'd give it a try.
