Blindman's Bluff is the 18th installment in Kellerman's Peter Decker & Rina Lazarus series and it's the first book I've ever rad by this author. The question I always ask myself when jumping into a long established series is if I'd read another book in the series.
My answer in this case would probably be a no for a few reasons:

First of all, I excepted both characters to play a relevant role in the book. The part of Decker's wife Rina could have been played by anyone and her role didn't really contribute to the plot. There is also a lot of build-up in the book. Suspects without end, more names one has to remember over the time span of a few days it takes to get through the book.
Finally the ending was a huge bore for me.

It also took me a while to get the novels title and for those who haven't figured it out I recommend the book Blind Man's Bluff: The Untold Story of American Submarine Espionage. It's not a direct connection but might indicate why the author choose this title, even if slightly irrelevant.

Maybe it just wasn't Kellerman's best but enough for me. :-)

I eagerly await each book from Ms. Kellerman and I wasn't disappointed in this one! Peter Decker is a lieutenant detective with the Los Angeles Police (Homicide Division) and he gets called at 3 a.m. by his department about murders of family members and a nearly fatal shooting of another. It appears that it may be gang-related but why? The Kaffey family own and manage many shopping centers but why would a gang want them dead? It is up to Decker and his staff to unravel the pieces and find the killer(s). Rina, Peter's wife, has jury duty and the court interpreter involves her in this case by his overhearing two gang members talking about the murder. Much to Peter's fear and rage, Rina is implicated and a target herself. I like it and gave it 4 1/2 stars.

Murder, chaotic and brutal, on Coyote Ranch: a rich developer and his family are slain. Peter Decker is investigating and wife Rina, sitting on a jury for another case, may be in danger from the same killers.

Lots of fun.

Wife of Jonathan, mother of Jesse. Peter ìs the husband of Rina. She is Jewish, includes interesting Jewish culturE, and is some husband/wife comments while she solves crimes on her own with occasional ideas from husband. She is excellent writer and her books are excellent reads.
