This was another very related-to-history, enjoyable mystery from Miriam Monfredo. This one dealt with racial prejudice against Indians in western New York in the 1850s. A number of historical figures were incorporated into the plot.
This mystery had very few prominent characters, aside from the good guys, who could have been the murderer. So, I figured that it had to be the one person who was obviously of bad character. Boy, did I blow it and finger the wrong person as the culprit.
The first books of this series seem to span a decade. I was surprised when Glynis said she was almost 40 as the first book had her in her late 20s. There are three more books in this series that apparently take place over the next four years, into 1861.

Spiritualism,Temperance, and Medicine are involved in this mystery set Seneca Falls, New York in 1857. As librarian Glynis Tryon attempts to save a Native American from hanging for murder, a dark, decade-old secret emerges as more deaths are uncovered.
This is a good series to read! I really enjoy how the author puts the story into the historical facts and works around them with a great cast of characters, great plot and just plain interesting read! At the end of the story I really like how she puts a paragraph article about the historical events of the time! Makes me appreciate how the men and women lived at that time! A GREAT series of mysteries in historical times!
