Short and sweet!

A retelling in fiction of a famous incident in history--a Senator takes an aide out on the 4th of July, drives off a bridge, and she drowns. Amazing work by Oates.

Not my favorite JCO, but a quick read....wonder who she based the accident off of? A senator and his "girlfriend" crashing his car into a lake....

I read BLACK WATER for a "Water" theme in my online book club, The Reading Cove.

It amazes me how the author managed to take a very dramatic event and turn it into a pretty tedious snooze fest! I found the writing very choppy and disjointed, and didn't feel the non-linear timeline was very well done.

I couldn't recommend it unless you enjoy boring reads.
