Inspector Alleyn is asked to aid the government in their preparation for the official visit of the President of an emerging African nation. A leader who, it so happens, was educated in England and was a schoolmate of Inspector Älleyn. When an attempt is made on the President's life while he's entertaining at his embassy, someone else is killed. Now, the Inspector must find a way to solve the mystery. He must juggle concerns for protocol, diplomatic immunity, and a group of English citizens who lost their fortunes and way of life when the Africans set up their own government. Another great Alleyn mystery!
