The author discusses the case of the slave ship Amistad being taken over by it's captives. The fate of the captives is decided by the supreme court in which former President John Quincy Adams eloquently pleas for the slave's freedom. In the book it describes the abolutionist's role in teaching the africians christianity and the hardships they faced in the africians homeland. It is an interesting account.
