I am a big fan of Dan Simmons and I enjoyed this book very much. It takes a novel approach to the Battle of the Little Big Horn and the last days of the Sioux nation. Simmons books often have mystical/supernatural overtones and in this case it suits the subject matter very well. It is an odd but appealing blend of accurate and realistic history juxtaposed with Native American culture and spiritualism. Very original. I would recommend it!

having read many of his books i'd have to rate this one as so so. the premise does hold your interest but the ending is a let down. I mean Mount Rushmore is still there so obviously he never blows it up! All the facts about early 1900 america is very interesting but the supernatural aspect is really only there to carry that story. I recommend this one especially since Simmons kept it under 500 pages.
