it takes a long time to get in to the story. he actually solves the crime in the first 3rd of book, which made it harder to keep reading. but i did finish the book. overall, he proves who did it without a doubt. if you stay with it and read the whole book, you do learn a lot about the LA police and how things were done in the 30's, 40's and 50's.
