Book one of a trilogy, I waited until I got all three before starting and believe me, you will want to read book two and three soon after. A very good story.

This book is based on the most basic concept of dreams actually being reality (or is reality being a dream). This concept is found in the Bible and in many religions and belief systems.
Dekker creates a compelling plot. One man lives in the future, while similtaneously living in the past. With his knowledge from one life, he attempts to fix the previous.
The writing style is pretty good. The dialogue is natural. While the characters aren't cardboard, they aren't exactly three dimensional.
But the book itself is just...boring.
I'm over 150 pages in and even though it's a "quick read" for me, I can't bring myself to spend any more time in it.

The beginning of it all. Good luck trying to distinguish which reality is real. I've read the trilogy and I still can't figure it out. A great start to a wonderful series!
Wonderful book. Ted Dekker keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. After reading the Circle Trilogy, I immediately ordered a set for my daughter, then sent my set to my other daughter. Both loved the series. Ted Dekker has never disappointed me with any of his books. I would recommend this author to everyone.
Ted Dekker has done it again. Very exciting and enthralling book. I read in one day. Couldn't put it down.
i read the 2nd book before i read this and i wish i 'd read this one first but it is a good book. i love this kind of "out of this world" stuff
Thomas Hunter lives in one world and dreams of another world, but which one is the dream? And maybe both worlds are real. This is a fast paced story which is well written. The metaphor Dekker weaves between Thomas' world and ours is clear, but not overstated. There are also great descriptions of God's love and Satan's deception and evil, making you think and stretching your imagination. Have the next book of the trilogy on your night stand, because you'll want to pick up with "Red", where "Black" leaves off.
A friend recommended this series to me. I found this first installment difficult to get through. Every time something important was developing, I felt like that was when the book would flip realities. There was just way too much random stuff thrown in. All the garbage about martial arts was boring and didn't add to the story. I found all of the romance elements boring and forced... Blech. Should be labeled YA, not sure why it isn't.
A little slow to get into at first, but worth the wait. A wonderful story. Can't wait to read the other two. (book one of three)
I have just started this book and I must say I am surprisingly enthralled with it. Wasn't sure that I would be. I find the story extremely entertaining and the characters interesting and delighful.
One of my favorite Christian Author's. Can't wait to read the next 2 in the Trilogy!
Excellent story!! The whole series is wonderful. Really makes you change how you look at things. Ted Dekker is an amazing author of suspense.
It took me a bit to get into this story (Book 1) but after that I was hooked. I read the trilogy and it was well worth the time. This was unlike anything I have ever read and the story is (to keep it really general here) is about Good and Evil between 2 worlds and one man. Teaser....You have to drown to be good and the evil ones smell but think they are fine...that is all I can type..it is just a gem of a Trilogy and it is personally one of my favorites of all time.
the first book of the Circles trilogy, what a start!!
Awesome.
I enjoyed this trilogy very much. I find this author very enjoyable.
