Having too many credits and ordering nonfiction from Pam C. in Texas led me to jokingly describe her welcome offerings as quite obscure. But this book includes really odd books that have been published, mostly in the UK. One of the editors is in publishing and the other is well versed in old tomes. They did it for 'the money and a laugh.'
The selections are categorized, sometimes include a brief comment, and some are illustrated. Titles include 'Rock Stars in Their Underpants' and the 'Wit of Prince Philip' and much, much more.
There is some sardonic comments and damning quotes but the editors succeed in their mission to be fair. These books intrigued the editors be3cause of 'undeliberate humor' in the subject and or title. "Just because we find them odd does not mean they did not sell magnificently , fill a gap in the market, and receive enormous acclaim, though some were of course, massively remaindered.'
I leafed through a copy of the art book 'Manhole Covers of Los Angeles' at the library when it was a new book. I did complain to my city councilwoman when film companies broke the fancy two manhole covers on Fourth Street, near Main Street twenty years later. She sympathised....
