I have read this book years ago, and I have 2 copies. If you have never read Candace Camp before, you must read this one. Meridith's sole surviving step-parent purchases Jeremy Devlin for the sole purpose of his stepdaughter, without her knowledge of the true reason. Both the hero and heroine are strong, and Jeremy leads her thru a self sensual discovery. This is one book you don't want to end.

From the back cover.

Shameless Desire
From that moment she beheld the bold stranger standing on the auction block, South Carolina beauty Meredith Whitney knew that Jeremy Devlin was no ordinary servant. His blue gaze branded her as no man's ever had. He was both slave and seducer, and his first searing caress unleashed a desire that became her secret shame and bound her to him body and soul.

Jeremy cursed the fate that carried him across the sea to Charleston Bay. Until he laid eyes on his new owner, the proud mistress of the sprawling Bitterleaf plantation. He vowed to make Meredith his-no matter what the price. But the betrayed British nobleman never imagined that his scheme of revenge and seduction would ignite a passion that would comsume them both.
