Really a good book regarding coffee growing plantations in El Salvador. Very moving and lyrical.
Three generations of workers and coffee plantation owners - through the oftentimes discouraging politics, uprisings, poverty, family tragedies in El Salvador. Beautifully written.
Wow, I'm an avid reader of literature and this book is one of the best I've read in years, a real classic. Set on a fina, coffee plantation in San Salvador you follow 3 generations of a family and the wealthy family they work for.
I learned so much about the San Salvadorian history and culture. The characters are all wonderfully drawn, and interwoven into each other's lifes. Benitez is a wonderful story teller!

This is really a paperback even though it comes up as hardcover.
