Just a reminder to all J.D. Robb Fans: This is the second story in the 'Remember When' half of the Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb book.

This the second part of "Remember When" that was written by Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb. I love all of the futuristic Lieutenant Eve Dallas stories written by J.D. Robb and this is no exception. If you have not read "Remember When" than you need to read this book along with the book "Hot Rocks" by Nora Roberts that contains the first part of "Remember When".

Bad REPRINT! The inside cover of this book represents that this is the first time this story has been printed, when it is a reprint! I felt the publisher was very deceptive, because I did quickly check the inside cover before paying for the book, and then I found out I'd already read it.
Usually I love JD Robb books and rate them highly, but since they lied about the printing date, only 1 star.

found this to be on the boring side of a mystery, takes too long page by page to get anywhere with the investigation and eventually just find yourself hoping to be able to finish it.

Great tale in the future.

this is the second half of REMEMBER WHEN by nora roberts and jd robb. the same person. the first half was a romance/mystery about diamonds stolen and hidden.
BIG JACK picks up in 2059 with lt. eve dallas investigating a murder at the home of the grand daughter of the couple from the first book.she arrives home from a book tour promoting the book she had written about the diamond heist. the dead person was her BF who was house sitting. from there you will have to read the book.
the diamonds do surface and resurface in later books.
just a tease.
the original book with both halves is out there if you want both. both halves can stand alone.

Police Lt. Eve Dallas is called to the scene of a homicide. Writer Samantha Gannon came home to find her housesitter murdered. The house has been tossed. Someone has thoroughly searched the house for a fortune in diamonds that Samantha wrote about in her bestseller. These diamonds were stolen over 50 years ago and have been missing since that time. In order to find the killer, Eve must solve the mystery of the missing diamonds.

This story is the follow-up to "Hot Rocks". It's a nice addition to the "In Death" series. In these books I'm used to lining up my suspects and trying to figure out the killer. In this story we were told who the villain was in the middle of the story. I wish it could have waited till later in the book. My rating: 4 Stars.

Y A W N ! I've read quite a few of these books and enjoyed this one the least. Not only is it a reprint with a different title (looks like the trend is spreading from the romance books), it's just downright boring! And the characters that made Dallas seem like she had an interesting life aren't even part of the story this time: I'm 3/4 of the way through and Mira the psychiatrist has appeared once, the butler is "on vacation", and the funky fashion designer is nowhere to be found. Woohoo, Roarke is good looking and illegaly gets info to help the case, she doesn't know how to dress, and they're the only ones with real coffee and bacon, yeehaw. I doubt I'll ever read another one -- my bookshelves are too full of really great books to waste my time on this stuff.

This would be book 17.5 in the series, according to when 'Remember When' was published.

BIG JACK
In New York City in 2059, someone is pursuing missing gems from a decades-old heist...someone who's willing to kill for them. Sharp-witted and sexy, NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dalls is used to traveling in the shadowy corners outside the law. And in a future where crime meeds cutting-edge technology, she will attempt to track down the diamonds once and for all--and stop the danger and death that have surrounded the jewels for years.

The book was okay, but I don't think it was up to her usual standards, maybe because I thought it was a new book, not part of an older set.

J. D. Robb is always at her best. She creates wonderful psycho killers and then sets her main characters to work catching them. In this story a 50 years old crime comes back to haunt the city and Eve Dallas and the ever stalwart Peabody set out to catch the villian with the help of the great support cast Robb has created. The sexy, brilliant, ex-thief millionaire Rourke is right along side his "lovely Eve" to help the plot line along. If you're into sci-fi and mysteries this is definitely a winner.

All the "In Death" books are great, especially since it was combined with Nora Roberts' Hot Rocks!
