Good start to a new series about a group of friends who were raised in poverty. Some intense content about baby farming, infanticide and rape(these occur off page-but are mentioned as things that happened in the past). Also, the hero starts out looking for revenge on the heroine's family, so he engages in a lot of deception, which I know many find objectionable. However the character building is good and the story is compelling.
