My teen daughter is interested in forensic science/crime resolution. I was excited to find this wonderful Christian series in which the protagonist lives her faith in the midst of family trials, her unanswered questions, and modern teen issues. The dialogue in Book 2 flowed more naturally than in Book 1, and I really appreciated the way the author treated the teen issues she explored in this installment. Again, this series has stirred up great family discussion and camaraderie.

I'm 34, so not really the target audience for this book. I read the first two in the series before giving them to my niece. I really liked the first one. I read it quickly and eagerly. This sequel was lacking some of the mystery and suspense of its predecessor. The mystery was pretty easy to solve early in the book. This book was also much more preachy than the first. I agree with the conservative principles being taught, but I like it better when the messages are conveyed through the storytelling. In Beyond Reach it seems forced.
