As I found out at the end in "author's notes", this book is a sequel to "The Ice Limit" which I never read. However, they added Gideon Crew to the plot to make it more interesting, and explained what happened in the previous book.
I am not a fan of SyFi and this book turned out to be just that. However, it kept my interest even though at times it was nauseating, creepy and disgusting, I had to skip over the horrible visuals!
Despite all my trepidations, I enjoyed this book.
