This is the 2nd best series I've ever read!! (First being Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series). These books MUST be read in the correct order: Beyond, To Tame, The Touch, Kiss, Dark and the Immortal. Spell is yet to come out in paperback. Enjoy!!!!
This book is a romance with time travel and scottish highlanders,(verra nice!) the fae, lots of very descriptive sexual scenes. I have read 4 of these books and I liked them. They take you away for a while, fast read.
I love this entire series. Karen doesn't disappoint in this book. You're sure to enjoy it. Next to Diana Gabaldon, it's my fave author in time travel romance.
Oh WOW, I loved this book! Another great one from Karen Marie Moning! Time travel, a beautiful woman, a handsome Laird, and a meddling fairy ... and, of course, a happy ending! :-)
This book will always be a favorite of mine! It was my first introduction to spicy romance and will always hold a special place in my heart, so I'm so so glad I have it in my possession again! :)
Another great book. Couldn't put it down. Loved the way the characters all had their own stories and things going on through out the story with out giving to much of it away. Great ending Was not exactly all tied up in a sweet bow had to work to get there it was GREAT!
This is the second book I have read by Moning. I read the second book first (Grim's story). This is the only third historic romance I have read though so I am new to this genre. For people who are expecting a straight historic romance, just wanted to let you know that there are paranormal elements as well.
The book was okay. I liked Adrienne and Hawk enough. Surprisingly I didn't get frustrated with their inability to communicate. I could sympathize with both characters and their actions. There were a bit of midsummer's night dream in there (with all the fae intervention) to keep things interesting. I thought the plot was interesting as well. It also had a great cast of supporting characters.
This book was harder to read than Grim's story. There was an inconsistency in the language. I expected a lot of that since Adrienne was supposed to be from the present, but the language was inconsistent with all the characters. And what's up with putting "the" in front of Hawk like he was "The Hulk" or something?
I do have problems with some of the scenes where Hawk decided to be more proactive in keeping Adrienne from Adam. I have no problem with kinkiness but keeping a blindfold on someone for two hours straight while travelling was very abusive to me. It wasn't sexy because he did it out of anger. I know the book claimed it was done out of love but really he was into doing anything he can to make himself feel powerful. In that way, I don't see him any different than Adrienne's first abusive boyfriend. Hawk just never hit her. After reading that, I lost a lot of respect for Hawk and Adrienne.
Overall it was a decent read. I think Grim's story was so much better. It has piqued my interest enough for me to continue the series plus branch out to read more historic novels.
HE WAS KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE KINGDOM AS HAWK, LEGENDARY PREDATOR OF THE BATTLEFIELD AND THE BOUDOIR. NO WOMAN COULD REFUSE HIS TOUCH, NUT NO WOMAN EVER STIRRED HIS HEART UNTIL A VENGEFUL FAIRY TUMBLED ADRIENNE DE SIMONE OUT OF MODERN DAY SEATTLE AND INTO MEDIEVAL SCOTLAND. CAPTIVE IN A CENTURY NOT HER OWN, ENTIRELY TOO BOLD, TOO OUTSPOKEN, SHE WAS AN IRRESISTABLE CHALLENGE TO THE SIXTEENTH CENTURY ROGUE. COERCED INTO A MARRIAGE WITH HAWK, ADRIENNE VOWED TO KEEP HIM AT ARMS LENGTH, BUT HIS SWEET SEDUCTION PLAYED HAVOC WITH HER RESOLVE. SHE HAD A PERFECT "NO" ON HER PERFECT LIPS FOR THE NOTORIOUS LAIRD, BUT HAWK SWORE SHE WOULD WHISPER HIS NAME WITH DESIRE, BEGGING FOR THE PASSION HE LONGED TO IGNINTE WITHIN HER. NOT EVEN THE BARRIERS OF TIME AND SPACE WOULD KEEP HIM FROM WINNING HER LOVE. DESPITE HER UNCERTAINTY ABOUT FOLLOWING THE PROMTINGS OF HER OWN PASSIONATE HEART, ADRIENNE'S RESERVATIONS WERE NO MATCH FOR HAWK'S DETERMINATION TO KEEP HER BY HIS SIDE.
