Lalyss's keep was overtaken by the King's overlord and she was forced to marry him. The first day she met Dreux he had killed numerous persons in her village and she's terrified he's going to kill her too. They spend one night together (to consummate the marriage) before all hell breaks loose again, and again, and again.

I had a very hard time getting into this book as it was just plain boring. It finally picks up about 3/4 of the way through and ends strong. Great conclusion to this book but the storyline obviously continues. I'm not sure if I can stomach another 200+ boring pages in book 2. But this is Alex's story so I'm going to try, especially since I already purchased it.
