I enjoy reading true crime stories & this one was a good read as far as I was concerned. I like the author's style of writing.

Set in the 1920's this is the story of a brutal killer dubbed the Gorillia killer by the press because of is size and strange apperance.Very interesting this is a case I had never heard or read about. The author tells the story well.

Surprisingly well-written, despite the trashy title. Schechter is an engaging writer, and Nelson was a suitably insane subject. Highly recommended for fans of true crime or of historical mysteries.

Earle Leonard Nelson may well have been America's first serial killer. In the winter of 1926, he began a string of murders that spanned the U.S. and Canada, horrifying and confounding both the public and the police. Bestial tells the story of Nelson's life--from his bizarre childhood to his ignoble end--sparing no graphic detail in the process. If there is an answer to the question of why this man murdered, it is in this book somewhere. Everything about Nelson seems bizarre, from his family to his eating habits to his religious obsessions. But strangest of all was his compulsion to kill--for no imaginable reason. He killed women of all ages, from all walks of life, seemingly with no remorse.

This book showed that the good old days were not as good as they led you to beleive. I enjoyed this book and vowed never to let a stranger into my house ever.

If you like to read about serial killers this book is for you.
well, this book will definitely gross you out. It's very graphic and gruesome.
Unfortunately, this book does smell like cigarette smoke. I do not smoke, but it came to me via a trade here on pbs. If you are sensitive to this smell, I would not request this book from me. Also, the book is in good reading conditon, but I found a few of the pages are unbinded. Meaning they will fall out. Again, the book came to me in this condition.
