In 1883, young Sinclair Readford decides to leave Philadelphia and her fine education behind for the adventures which might await her in Montana Territory. Letters from her aunt Tilly lure her into the West, but soon she finds herself hanging out of a window of a brothel, trying to escape from the place where she had tried to find her relative. She falls into the arms of handsome ranch boss Jefferson McCloud who comes only reluctantly to her rescue. He offers her a job as caretaker for his little sister Maddie -- a challenge Sinclair enjoys to take on for more than one reason.

Deborah Schneider's Wild West romance starts promising, but loses some of its momentum after the main character Sinclair Readford arrives at her love interest's ranch. Eastern-bred Sinclair occasionally annoys both Jefferson McCloud and the reader with her behavior, but she remains lovable nonetheless. Schneider seems a bit indecisive about Sinclair's character though -- while she is described as tough and self-confident woman, she still relies in critical situations on a man to rescue her. All in all, "Beneath A Silver Moon" is an entertaining western novel which romance lovers will love not only for the steaming love scene at the end of the book.
