This book is an early work of Penelope Williamson (author of: The Outsider & A Wild Yearning etc.). The story is interesting and romantic -- however, I am a fan of her later work I found the writing to be choppy and not as smooth & clear as her other books. Still, the story is good and if you like historical romances you'll probably enjoy it!
