An author whose experiences I want to read about and a premise about making life beautiful should set up for a moving reading experience in Bella Figura by Kamin Mohammadi. Unfortunately, the majority of the story goes in a different direction and is about dating adventures in Italy. I am still fascinated by the author and will likely look for her other work; this one was just not for me.

This was so much more than a guide to eating a whole lot of fresh veggies! This author finds herself living a simple lifestyle in Italy after unplugging from the corporate grind of London. It's also a study on Love, Italian Style, complete with painful lessons and ultimately, finding the real deal, of which, I believe, most women can relate. Some things are just the same no matter where you go. Skip the tenth viewing of Under the Tuscan Sun. Bella Figura feels a lot more true. The simple recipes at the end of each chapter, the sprinkling of Italian phrases, and the vivid village-life descriptions are just a whole lot of fun. 4 stars.
