The title says it all. The book builds slowly and then you are hooked and want the next one.

Very good romance with interesting world. Hero and Heroine are very likeable. They are very nice / devoted to each other and all tension is from their respective families. I liked this approach more than the typical romance type of pushing each other away for whatever reason.

I have yet to read a Bujold book I didn't love! Each of her series has it's own unique flavor, but the characters are always unique and fully realized. This series is more fantasy romance then her others to date, and sure enough I'm completely hooked!

I'm a Sci-Fi fan but I read this because LBJ is such a good writer. Absolutly awesome read. I bought all 4 and couldn't stop until I read them all.

Lois McMaster Bujold is one of the world's best writers. This series of four stories is an engrossing commentary of culture, endemic prejudice, and the understanding true change happens one person at a time. The first book is an odd sort of romance and an introduction to the two largely separate worlds. Thus begins the journey of two people's effort to unite, in some small way, their two cultures. Meanwhile, there are monsters, battles, discoveries and strength. Read them! And then go read Vorkosigan.
Another good book by Bujold. I prefer her Miles Vorkosigan series but this was good if a little on the romancing side.
While I didn't like it as much as the Vorkosigan books or World of the Five Gods, it's still pretty good reading. You can see my review of the series on the PBS Blog for February 2023.
