This is one of Carla Neggers' earlier books, and you can tell. The storyline was okay but it felt like she tried too hard to generate chemistry between the two main characters Annie and Garvin. It was a fairly quick read and the "villian" became quite obvious about halfway through the book. If you like Neggers then read it. If not, read some of her later stuff.
