A very clever story line, somewhat reminiscent of The Time Travelers wife. I found some of the characters in 'present day' just ever so slightly shallow/annoying. Max's tendency to refer to Shelly as 'luv' got on my nerves, not so much that he said it, but how the author spelled it. Sometimes it was like a 1966 Tiger Beat magazine article about British bands. This book is a combination of historical fiction/romance/fantasy.
Wow! This book is an exhilarating journey! One of the best books I have ever read. It is several stories through time woven into one story of a lifetime. I felt as though I was touring Europe off the beaten path to places with a rich history I was privy to. It is an experience I savored. If you need a vacation or an escape for awhile, this book will take you. Unique and amazing! A keeper I will want to experience again!
How does one go about writing a review on a book that surprises them as much as this one surprised me? This book caught my eye around the time it was released, so I put it on my to read list, and semi forgot about it for a bit. I put books on that list all the time with every intention of reading them eventually, but thats a long list and I cant begin to wrap my arms around it in a fair way. So this book sat on that list, half forgotten, for nearly a year.
In the meantime, I joined a new book club which has a voting arrangement to help pick the next read for the group. Since I have this ever growing to read list, I try my best to vote according to something that is already on the list, so when this one came up on the list for the July read, I voted for it about as fast as a cheetah. It was ultimately picked as the read, so I borrowed it from the library this month and began reading it.

This book is incredible. It is a interwoven tapestry of stories, that takes us on an unbelievable journey. I just loved this story. This is one talented author.
You can read the blurb to read what it is about, but read reviews to decide if you want to read this book. I suggest you add this book to your MOST wanted to read list.
I think this book had the most beautiful and romantic proposal that I have read in a long time, it might even beat my top favorite proposal. Well not quite. So the second most beautiful proposal I have ever read.
