It wasn't a bad story but it was most definately not the best of its type out there.
Anna is what is becoming the stereotypical strong female turned into something she didn't really want to be but dealing with it in the best way she can. But other variants of that type are more engaging. I just couldn't ever really sympathize with her as much as I would have liked to.
And worst of all for me every plot twist and device was telegraphed a mile away. You have to wonder how someone who is supposed to be a smart savvy bounty hunter can be so blind to the obvious.
Still overall its a decent read but if I had it to do over it would be a used/PBS purchase or library checkout rather than a full price purchase.

Really enjoyed this book. It's a new series for me, and I read the 1st 3 books in three days. Highly recommend this author, and other reviews which suggest a combination of Charlaine Harris and Laurell Hamilton are correct, although, thank heaven, sex is not nearly as graphic as LH's most recent.

I really enjoyed this book. Anna is turned into a Vampire, and another vampire wants to help her embrace her new life. But Anna is unable to let go of those she loves who are still human. So, will she turn her back on her former life, and embrace her new one? A hard choice for her to make. Loved it.

So yes, the story was alright, for the first book in the series. Most firsts have a ways to go. The dialogue needs some work and the outcome was predictable. I would recommend it to someone who doesn't read as much as I do, or doesn't expect much from vampire books. I give it 3 stars because 1) I finished it, 2) 'Casper' intrigues me, and 3) I want to find out how she stumbles about being a vampire on her own without the help of the vanquished Avery. I'm hoping the next book is better than the first. I'm going to giving the next a try.

Not very original, and more than a little predictable. The 1st person, present tense helps make it a fast read, but wears thin halfway through the book. I found myself far more interested in the possibilities and minor characters than I was in Anna, though I'm going to try the second book to see if it improves. Or if characters I actually like get some page time.

I'm not as impressed with this book as I'd hoped to be. The main character was engaging, but seemed a little too simplified and fatalistic for me to really feel "connected" with her. I'll read the next one to give it another try, but on the whole I don't feel that Stein is as strong of a writer as early Hamilton or even Briggs.

This is a quick read. No complex worlds to unravel and simple, normal characters - vampires or not. I liked Alex and David - even if he is overbearing and bossy. As a bounty hunter, I'm sure that works for him. :) I would have liked to see more of Max in this story...maybe next time. I wonder if "Casper" is Max. A very good start to the series so the next adventure should be very interesting.

I enjoyed this book. Once I got into it, I finished it in a day, couldn't put it down. The main character, Anna Strong, is aptly named. She's independent without having that rough quality that heroines like Anita Blake get. I like that, while she does have her damsel in the distress moments, she also has her own moments, where she gets herself of some dicey situations.
It's got a similar vibe to it as "The Turning" by Jennifer Armintrout. Another thing I like, the author did not leave you hopelessly teetering on the edge of a huge cliff-hanger so that you would froth at the mouth until you could get your hands on the next installment. Rather, she left several loose ends that could each develop into a story line. Fans of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, the Turning series,the Anita Blake series and The Dark Huntress series would enjoy this book. And hopefully the ones that follow.

This is a great start to a series. I loved this book. It had the right combination of suspense, sex & still told a good story. Can't wait to read the next one.

Entertaining and engrossing.
I enjoyed this book. It kept my attention and made me curious to read the next book to see what happends with Anna.
Follow the tale of a sexy bounty hunter who has been recently turned into a vampire by one of her collars that got away. If you like a blend of humor and sexyness in your book this is definately one for you.

I very much liked this book and look forward to the next one in the series in June. A different uptake on vampires which is alway refreshing.
A slighty different take on the vampire story. Love the nuisances. Have high hopes for the next book! Recommend it!
