...a reader's treat. - Time
Obtained book because it was recommended as a resource for information on blue crabs. It is not all that informative and tends to wander off on tangents with a lot of historical lore thrown in. It was not exactly what I was looking for.
Written in 1970s and is now a classic. Interesting reading, very real insight into an interesting part of the USA.
Wonderful, wonderful book! It's an older book, 1982, but it is the story of the blue crab, the Chespeake Bay, and a way of life that is all but gone.
Full Title is: Beautiful Swimmers (Watermen, Crabs and the Chesapeake Bay)- about the pugnacious, succulent Atlantic blue crab and its environment. The people who inhabit that environment, their customs, places, and ways. Very detailed, very informative.
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize
This book takes you into the lives of everyday people who fish crab on the Chesapeake. It is a funny, warm and fascinating look at at a quickly disappearing niche in a nation preoccupied with rush hour and the latest technology.Illustrated with beautiful black and white drawings.
