If you like any other Fitzgerald, you should like this. It's a little longer and slower at times, but certainly worth reading if you're a fan of F. Scott.

F.Scott Fitzgerald's second novel traces the early course of a young marriage through that luminous and flexible style which characterized his writing. Carl Van Doren said of The Beautiful and Damned, "Few current writers can represent young love in its incandescence as he can... A light nver present unless there is genius not far off."

I must've missed something in this book. After reading it I just can't get what's so great about it. It was mildly entertaining but I didn't think there were any great plot twists, character developements, etc... I don't know maybe it's just me
I love Fitzgerald and hope more people would read his work. Gatsby may be the best but these are really good as well
I found this book to be dreary and depressing. First of all, the lifestyle of sloth and alcohol is so wasteful in my opinion. Also, I really did not like the characters of Gloria and Anthony. To me, they were not like other strong characters with tragic flaws. I need to read The Great Gatsby again as this book as left me wanting for better Fitzgerald.

Old version of the book, good condition some ware only missing one page in the front a page that was blank. Slight odor, must like an old book. Binding has held up well. Over all a good edition for a book collector. I have had it for many years and read it several times, I feel that it is time to pass it along. I think I picked it up at a rummage sale.
