This is an awesome book it tells the story of The beautiful Cigar girl Mary Rogers, and her murder and it also tells the story of Edgar Allan Poe, and how the two mix together when he write his story Marie Roget. If you liked "The Devil In The White City" You will love this.

Not bad but does bog down a bit in some of the connections between the case and Poe--good information on the life of Poe and his works.

Interesting historical bits from 1840s New York, but the story dragged for me.

I was hoping for more text and story on Poe but this was very heavily written (think 1850s America) and focused more on the overall development of the "murder mystery." Not what I was looking for.
