the story of one man's thruhike of the AT, and unlike Bill Bryson, he actually made it. this book was wonderful. it was a great mix of trail experience and lore and the spiritualism that comes from undertaking the hike. it was both personal and impersonal, and engaging beginning to end. it makes me want more than anything to drop out of "real life" for six months and hike from georgia to maine, to see if i can find what i'm so sorely missing right now, even though i couldn't tell you what that is.

**** Author's true story of a "thruhike" of the Appalachian Trail. Witty and humorous.
