I will start off by saying I am a die hard beauty and the beast fan. This book had me going hmm in a few spots. The Prince (his name was never really Adam as we once thought..it's just Prince..) is actually friends with Gaston!!! Also the Prince is a jerk in this book. He refuses to marry anyone beneath his status yet when he has a ball for all the single ladies, Belle ends up there (though he never discovers what her name is..so how Belle got there is beyond me)It also explains how the painting that is done of the Prince in his older years came about (the one Belle found that was all tore up). It explained a few things but I did not like how they twisted the tale around a little to fit the story's needs. The author should have kept with the original and worked from there as this story involves 3 very evil witches and a 4th whom loved the Prince. This book wasn't a huge disappointment but for a die hard fan it was a little bit of a let down. Still a good read. Also some people are saying this book involves a suicide, a girl does jump from a cliff but Ursula rescues her in exchange for her beauty so she does not die! There is also a lot of cross references to other Disney movies in this book (which I liked).
