Very sweet novel, though fans of the movie beware that the movie adaptation does not follow the book very closely. Overall, a good read about friendship. Definitely a nice summer read.

Absolutely wonderful. Every bit as powerful as the movie, I had to tear myself away from it to do different things while on vacation. Cee Cee Bloom and Bertie were fabulous companions as I enjoyed the beach in Hilton Head SC

Beaches is one of my favorite movies ~ I read the book after the movie and LOVED the book (and STILL love the movie ~ go figure!) so much I read it twice and was thrilled to find Cee Cee's & Nina's story continued in Beaches II I'll Be There, the sequel. Written with humor, sensitivity and vitality. Definitely read this book (AND it's sequel).
