I made it to page 35, didn't catch my fancy. It was too full of generalizations to be really good history. "To the Greeks, and later the Romans, who had a keen appreciation for the beauty of the natural world, the sea was the noblest and lovliest sight." Yawn. The book concerns itself with the beach as a playground. There's lots of old black and white photos from the 19th and early 20th century resorts.
