Author: Maya Banks
So much closer than just friends. — Hutch Bishop, Cam Douglas, and Sawyer Pritchard were juvenile delinquents with a reckless and wildly sexy side. But they had more in common than that. They had Regina Fallon, a wealthy but lonely girl from the right side of the tracks who formed an unusual friendship with the boys. She felt protected. She felt ...  more »

Not the best erotica I've read. It had a bit more "story" than usual, didn't leap directly into sex, which is not what you would expect with a story about a foursome. In fact, there was nothing steamy for the first half of the book. It was mostly exploring, somewhat realistically (if you can find "realism" in a 3 men + 1 woman menage) the emotional and psychological hurdles of embarking on this type of love affair. Each character addresses their own fears and jealousies. OK.

Unfortunately, with all this "story" it wasn't great writing, the characters weren't particularly interesting or well defined individuals. So if we're here for the eroticism, that was woefully underwritten, not terribly sexy or hot. Once the author finally gets going, it does go and go and go, but it just wasn't steamy or gripping. There was one pretty hot scene, but it ends poorly and not sure it makes the book worthwhile.

I hadn't given too much thought to the logistics of a quadrangle sex party, have to say that it turns out 4 is a number that doesn't work very well. I think the notion of lots of hot guys and one girl is sexy, but boy it didn't work on paper. Plus the whole idea that you have four extremely straight/borderline homophobic men all having sex together with one woman - it stretches suspension of disbelief too far. And reading about her having sex with all these guys, it didn't really sound all that fun, it sounded tiring and painful.

Not certain Maya Banks in on my future reading list.

The plot center was the romance. She loves them and they love her and have since they were children. But the idea of four-way relationship scares her. They're OK with the four-way because they know she would never pick one of them over the others. That she's a cop in a small town complicates matters even further.

The whole killer/revenge plot is a frill - buried amidst the 'could I/would they/should we' that ricochets around the book. Lots of sex scenes - but not so much sexual tension. And sex without sexual tension between the characters is only mechanics - sort of the difference between driving a race car and reading the operator's manual for it...

Book written just it seems for the erotic angle. Hard to enjoy a book in which a character comes from an abusive home in which the mother is killed by the father and a sibling is left behind and forgotten. Did not enjoy the story. Some of the characters are seriously "damaged" and unforgiving. It is all about the main characters getting what they want. Almost obsessive.

I like the fact that we got to see interaction between all of the characters. Not just physical interaction but emotional as well. I also liked how we got some view points from the guys as well. All in all I enjoyed the book and glad I picked it up on a whim. I loved how the 3 guys work as a team and discuss how to approach the situation about trying to get Regina to stay with them.

Maya Banks manages to bring sweetness to a situation many would consider deviant. Reggie, our heroine is also a little hesitant to enter into a romantic and sexual relationship with her childhood buddies - Hutch and Cam and Sawyer! There's plenty of dangerous action to keep the relationships in a state of flux and everyone gets what they desire in the end (so to speak). 3.5 stars

This was my first book by Maya Banks and I was pleasantly surprised. Steamy and erotic, although I definitely didn't feel as if the three guys were completely on board with sharing.
