Another entry into the Elseworld titles at DC ( a line of comics that all take place in alternate realities...not connected with the "regular continuity" of DC comics). In this alternate reality, America is a theocracy where the church rules the nation and which superheros are considered heretics and abombinations. Bruce Wayne become the Batman to fight crime and is drawn into a war against the Church in this one-shot story, which reimagines his origin story set in this reality. Some of the religious aspects may offend more conservative readers....a dark, sci fi tale in the Watchmen type vein...probably won't be liked/easily digested by very young, very devout or causal "mainstream" Batman readers.
