I liked this book more than the first one in the series, "In the Barrister's Chambers", although that was pretty good too. James, the hero, is a self-made man who has had a career as a barrister, until his father dies and he unexpectedly becomes the Duke. The book's title is a bit misleading, because Bella, the heroine, doesn't end up in the barrister's bed until about 2/3rds into the story. However I got really caught up in the plot. There are not one, but two bad guys out to get the hero and the heroine, for totally different reasons, but it made sense in the context of the story. Considering Bella's traumatic first marriage, some of her actions were understandable, although they were unwise. Once she decided to trust James, and stopped trying to solve her problems alone, I enjoyed the remainder of the book much more. The idea of a group of 4 barristers who are good friends and work together was original and interesting. I was intriqued by the other 2 men in the group who are still single, and I hope to see books about them. 3.5 stars.
