Good page turner. Ending wasn't rushed.

I needed something light and enjoyable after reading a few psychological thrillers that I recently read. Andy Carpenter, his dogs and team does the trick. His unusual humor and quirky character brings a smile all the time.

A semi-retired defense lawyer is involved with a dog rescue. When the vet calls with an unusual situation with a dog that was dropped off, Andy goes to check it out. What follows is an involved story when Andy takes on the defense of a young man accused of murdering the dog's owner. Fast paced, interesting read.

Well, David Rosenfelt has done it again. This is a masterful, fun book with no slow spots or weird stuff. The stories are compelling and keep the reader turning the pages. All the usual suspects are in attendance: Marcus, Sam the Accountant, and Truman, the dog.

Below, I've listed books 12 through 20 (although there are currently 22 novels in this series). It is not necessary to read the books on order, although they do have a continuing story about the main characters. Humor is the watchword in this series; Andy Carpenter's self-deprecating humor is wonderful.

In case you are wondering, Rosenfelt has a new series (K-Team) that is also great. It emphasizes the gumshoe aspect of crime with Laurie and Marcus in the starring roles.
