I had no idea! Bananas and the banana industry have had a huge impact on the entire western hemisphere - including American politics.

If you ever wondered where the term "banana republic" comes from, or why it seems like all of Central and South America is a political swamp, this is a must read.

Fascinating look into the impact that richer, more developed countries have on the poorer, third world countries they "help".
