First Zack Chasteen mystery set in Florida and the Bahamas. What a great book to start the year! We meet Zack as he is being released from prison, having spent better than 18 months there for smuggling and counterfeiting, while Zack assures us he's innocent. Still, trouble haunts him from the moment he steps outside the prison walls. Well-written, easy reading, just the right amount of humor. I lived in Florida for 2 years and hated it, but the author's obvious love for the state shines through and almost makes me want to go back. Maybe just for a week's vacation. Well done!

While the author has been compared to such greats as Carl Hiaasen and Tim Dorsey, I simply don't see him as being in their league. Yes, he's a decent writer, and he writes a good yarn, but he needs to work more on character development. Take, for example, the character of Boggy in this book. While the character does get mentioned early on in the book, he actually does not even appear until the final 1/3, and then plays almost no role in the story. In fact, very few of the characters in this book come across with any kind of depth or persona. Most of them are as flat and lifeless as the cardboard covers of the book itself.

Intriguing story of an ex-profootbal player framed and forced to serve two years in a Club Med federal prison - only to find things even hotter once he gets out than they were inside!Got this for my hubby to read but I enjoyed it - surprising me!

I enjoyed reading this book which was recommended by a fellow swapper. I would definitely read more in the series.

Zack Chasteen was wrongly convicted of a crime. On the day he is released from prison he is met by men who are sent by a "dead man". A limo then appears, sent by his girlfriend - or was it? He is robbed of his identification and most of the money his girlfriend sent him. He illegally leaves the country and, arriving in the Bahamas where he is to meet his girlfriend, finds the "dead man" is still after him. His girlfriend is abducted, along with a friend of hers. Finding out how all of this fits together makes the story. I did enjoy this and will read more.

I enjoyed this book, thought it would have been an island romance, little bit at the end, but more of an island mystery. I thought it was well done!

I enjoyed all of Floridian Bob Morris' books. This one is set in the Bahamas and gives you an insiders look at the culture and the people. Others are set in Bermuda and Jamaica. Always a good story.

Two years in a Floriday federal prison on bogus charges has made former Miami Dolphins strong safety Zack Chasteen stir crazy. The first step toward getting his life back together is meeting up with his beautiful magazine mogul girlfriend, Barbara, on Harbour Island in the Bahamas.
But making it out of Floriday proves to be more trouble than a gator with a toothache. He discovers Barbara's been kidnapped, an gang of Cuban thugs in on his tail, and he is about to lose his family homestead.
