Hilarious! Moore has a gift for many good laughs, and great timing.

Any book I want to immediately re-read is a keeper. I read BPC in one sitting. The pace stayed solid.

Also seamlessly wove Shakespeare in, which is a good trick.

Take one small kingdom, with lots of problems, one recently dead king who didn't leave an heir, and two conniving uncles who want to make some bucks turning the kingdom over to its less-than-friendly neighbor, then add one college student who also happens to be the illegitimate son of the ruler......and you have "Bad Prince Charlie."

Charlie has been convince by his scheming uncles to take the throne so that they can make some money by selling out to the king next door. But much to their surprise, he turns out to be a pretty good king! What happens when you add a pot-smoking priestess and a beautiful Lady who doesn't mind the thought of killing a person or two standing in the way of her becoming queen? Charlie ends up neck-deep in trouble!

A VERY funny book, good choice for both fans of fantasy and comedy. Highly recommended!

A humorous parody of a fairy tale with multiple conspiracies competing with each other, which---in the end---doesn't come out the way you would normally expect. In fact, in one or two cases the villains live happily ever after.

As for the footnotes, there weren't really all that many and they can be safely ignored, as they add nothing to the tale.

This was a decent read that did start me out with a chuckle in the first few paragraphs. It's reminiscent of Terry Pratchett, yet not quite as polished. However, this author's use of footnotes got annoying quick because they weren't that funny or great. It was a different type of book to read as well, as it took me about halfway through before realizing it didn't have chapters, but "pauses" between sections (like mini-chapters). Overall, it was pretty good, but didn't grab me in a big way that makes me want to rush out and read everything by this author, even though this is the second book by him I've read.

Very humorous, light fiction. John Moore books in general tend to be good, light romps. Nothing too serious, no major characters, but interesting plotlines.
