Cat Dupree is a really special lady, but don't piss her off! When she was just shopping in the hardware store and a crazed gunman started shooting at a clerk, she laid him out with a shovel! Atta girl, Cat!
Sala does it again, just sucks you right into the story, and you can't put the book down until you've reached the last page.

From back cover: Cat Dupree would love nothing more than to settle down and build a life with fellow bounty hunter Wilson McKay. But Soloman Tutuola--the man who murdered her father and slashed her throat when she was thirteen--haunts her even from the grave.
An investigator from Mexico is tracking down the person who is responsible for Tutuola's death--and the trail leads directly to Cat. To add to her bad luck, a junkie with a vendetta is stalking Wilson and is willing to kill anyone who gets in the way of his revenge.

While this story is about survival, it is also a story of unconditional love--the love between a man and a woman, the love between a parent and a child, and the all encompassing love of a family unit. Catherine finally gets a taste of what life might have been like if her parents had lived to watch her grow up. Then again, she might never have met and fallen in love with Wilson, had her life unfolded differently. A 4.0 from me, which means I would recommend.
