A girl friend of mine loved it. I thought it was trash. About the only positive is that it didn't take long to read.
This novel could just as easily been called Things Fall Apart (I always think it's a shame that title's already been taken) or "Marie F***s Up." Marie isn't really bad, or she doesn't mean to be, but she certainly makes bad decisions. Six years ago, she made a bad decision that landed her in prison. Finally out of prison and employed as her childhood friend's nanny, she makes a chain of bad decisions (none of them her fault from Marie's POV) that form the plot of this novel. It was a quick, fun read -- a train wreck from which I couldn't look away.
As with so many books somewhere in the middle I'm not sure I want to continue reading. But I'm always pleased when I do push through to find a solid ending.
