I enjoyed this book which gave me several potential characters to choose from as to who was the killer. The characters were pretty well rounded and the ending, while expected (i.e., the good guy always wins), it still provided a couple of surprises. I also enjoyed that it takes place in Yellowstone National Park.
However, I do have to put it out there that I disliked the main character, that being Cody Hoyt, who is an alcoholic asshole who sincerely doesn't care about anyone else but himself, including his partner. Toward the end the reader is then supposed believe that Cody is after the unknown killer just to be sure his son is okay, which is hogwash. Cody is after the killer because he wants to avenge his AA sponsor; the fact that his son is on the same horseback trip is irrelevant.
