This is the first book in the 2 books so far series and it was quaint and interesting. The author turns up at this B&B by chance or fate, having just gotten in his car and driven then taken a ferry across the Puget Sound. Upon arriving he quickly realizes this is not your typical B&B but he enjoys his time spent with the bachelor brothers, the owners, and their other guests. This is a somewhat isolated B&B, not fancy or fussy. They do provide some activities like badminton or croquet but the real draw is the library full of all kinds of books and the conversations which often center around books, what else. Here, finally at the B&B you will have the time to get to those books you never got around to reading before in your busy life. The variety is amazing. You are served a large Breakfast but for Lunch and Supper you either use their kitchen to cook for yourself or possibly if the one restaurant is open in town, you may be lucky to get something there. But honestly, folks come for the ambience and the books. A bibliophile's heaven! I know that I would be totally set for my stay though I may need to bring a crossword book or two just in case. I love the guests stories/comments. The book is set up in small "chapters" varying between the each brother's ruminations and the comments and observations left by the guests. Imagine, they have never advertised and yet are full up every year! There you meet Mrs. Rochester their parrot (he uses a little profanity) and Waffle, their cat. Sign me up for late September when the kiddies are back in school!

A quick read (152 pages). The bachelor brothers are 50-something fraternal twins Hector & Virgil. Their booklovers' B&B is at an undisclosed location somewhere between Vancouver Island and mainland Canada. Be forewarned that their parrot Mrs. Rochester uses the F-word.

I love Bed & Breakfast reads, so I thought I'd give this one by Mr Richardson a try. New author for me and I truely enjoyed this read. Lots of cozy feel, only thing better would be a series of this B&B read I think. Two twin brothers own this B&B and it is a wonderful place to visit on the pages of this endearing story. I found I wanted to keep reading, sipping tea and putting off some things i needed to be doing at home. I think I shall check for more from this author and see what he has to offer.
Delightful book of a pair of bachelors who run a B & B. Witty, esp. for literature lovers.
Fun book about twin brothers who run a bed and breakfast and people can bring their own books or read the brothers' books.
I really enjoyed this book. A nice relaxing, quiet read (except for the section introducing their cat which had me laughing out loud).
It was delightful and I can't wait to read the next one!
Nice read. Cozy without being simplistic.
This was an interesting quick read. I thought there might be more of a story woven into the journal entries but it really was just a quick glimpse into the lives of the brothers and their guests. I appreciate that it was a true story without a made-up plot but, as such, the ending was kind of a let down.
Quick, droll read. A quirky, whimsical story for anyone absorbed with books. Delightful!
One of the best books I have read in years! I could rave on and on, so I will say just two things: LOVED the lists of suggested readings for various situations, and the chapter where they go to the costume party is chickens is the laugh-out-loud (so much better than LOL!) funniest thing I have read in years! I scared the cat out of the room - it is one of the two best funny pieces I have ever read, the other being Richard Brautigan's "Revenge of the Lawn." Oh, so highly recommended!
a very eccentric book!!
What a surprisingly wonderful little book! Picked it up in a thrift shop, had no idea what to expect, and found it to be a great bedtime, cozy read.
