Azincourt is a really excellent book. Bernard Cornwell has a unique talent for depicting warfare. Although this book follows an archer in the 100 years war, his experience as a soldier is as modern as it is historical. While the characters may be experiencing "long periods of boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror," the reader is never bored as Cornwell skillfully keeps the pace moving along. Azincourt has everything: historical accuracy, characters I fell in love with, and a tight plot. I highly recommend this book to readers of historical fiction and war-fiction both.
