Audrey breaks up with her self- absorbed rocker boyfriend, Evan, because she's sick of how he treats herlike she's not even there. After the break-up he writes a song called "Audrey, Wait!" which shoots to the top of the charts! Audrey's life is turned upside down when the song and his band, The Do-Gooders, become famous. She's chased by paparazzi, pursued as a muse by another rockstar, and separated from her friends at school because her popularity is interfering with her learning. She even gets into a fight with her best friend Victoria, and has a horrible time trying to make time to see her new crush. The world finally gets to see who the real Audrey is though when she appears live on MTV.
I loved this take on the girl friend's side of a break-up song. You always hear about rock stars who write songs about the one who broke their hearts, but you never hear the girl's version. I'm a big fan of Audrey and I can sympathize with what she's going through. It's got to be hard having your words misinterpreted in an interview, and have random boys showing up on your front doorstep to snag a kiss for a picture. Although Audrey isn't very happy with how things are turning out for her, she still maintains a great sense of humor, which was carried out through the whole book by her, Victoria, and even her parents. It's too bad Audrey didn't just embrace her 15 minutes of fame, because she probably would have had more fun. Robin Benway also does a great job of incorporating music into the book, which is something I always enjoy. Books and music just mesh really well together.
This was a fun read! Highly recommended to those who enjoy YA reading!

I loved Audrey in this refreshingly exciting novel! Audrey is the kind of cool and witty character who doesn't get enough attention in the young adult genre. Despite the slightest excessive use of profanity, which might bother more sensitive readers, this book will make you laugh and cheer out loud in places where you shouldn't be snort-laughing at Audrey's hilarious narration. This is without a doubt one of the best novels I have read thus far this year.

Audrey has no idea that right after she breaks up with her boyfriend, he'll write a hit song about her. She still agrees to go to his gig that night and hears the song "Audrey, Wait."
Immediately, it catches on. On Monday, Evan doesn't show up for school. Rumors swirl that his band has been signed. Soon the radio starts playing the song and before Audrey knows it, a reporter calls.
The phone rings just as Audrey is headed out the door, late for work. She blows off the interview with sarcasm, which the reporter completely misses. Now, Audrey has to tell her parents that what they've printed isn't true. She also has to deal with the paparazzi that begin to stalk her.
Robin Benway takes an average girl and quickly changes her life to become the new It Girl. Audrey copes as best she can with the change: with sarcasm, wit, and a great best friend.
This book will have you laughing out loud and cheering Audrey on.

I seem to be drawn to books with a music theme and this was my first young adult book with a rock theme going on and I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the characters and related right away to the bands and music Audrey was drawn to since it has always been a part of my life. Loved the band members and her co-worker at the ice cream joint. All and all a fun read.
My Thoughts: Audrey, Wait! is an amazing book! Its one of the best books I've read this year! I just loved it from start to finish! I usually don't rate books this high because either 1. They just aren't that great. 2. Because they don't seem to compare to my obsession of how good The Twilight Saga or Harry Potter was. I do enjoy books but I don't love love love them! This one was one I actually loved. I loved Audrey, and I loved James. I even loved to hate Evan! I don't know why I waited so long to read this. It stayed on my wishlist for a while, than once I got it it went on the bookshelf until a few weeks ago. This book had it all. Humor, belonging, and a sense of excitement. Have you ever dated a boy in a band? I have and I've been there before! I totally understood Audrey!!! Go out and rend this book, like now! Are you at the bookstore yet?
Overall: GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT, thats really all there is too it!
