I found Brad Thor's The Athena Project an enjoyable quick read. His characters are interesting and his plot moves forward quickly. He states on the page before the first page of text, that "the science in this novel is based on reality". I find that a frightening prospect after finishing the book. The research and experiments used in the plot are from World War II and the Nazis. Mr. Thor writes in the manner of Vince Flynn and Brian Haig. I believe Mr. Flynn was the best writer of this type of thriller genre and has no equals and I enjoy Brain Haig's smart mouth main character, Sean Drummond immensely. Still I enjoyed the rapport between Mr. Thor's main characters; Gretchen Casey, Julie Ericsson, Megan Rhodes and Alex Cooper.

Not my favorite Brad Thor book, but it's nice to see women portrayed as bad asses and not victims for a change. Scot H makes a brief appearance.

"In addition to the night vision goggles, or NVGs as they were known, Vleck had provided them with .40 caliber CZ Rami pistols and extras magazines, as well as encrypted radios and a few other items Hutton had asked for."

This book is the first in the 'Athena Project' series, by Brad Thor. The 4 woman team of Delta operatives, introduced in the book Foreign Influence, in the 'Scot Harvath' series are a highly trained team of infiltration operatives. This book introduces the girls, their backgrounds, skills and attitudes.

This series is good in concept, and includes a pleasant balance of action, technical details, and plot twists. However Brad Thor has reproduced the TV show 'Charlies Angels' in book form, including the girls office style banter, much about sexual appetites and personal foibles. Hearing this snark in my head made me want to run into my virtual office and shut the door. Another drawback was the author's use of a girl's first name, last name and nickname all in the same scene. Multiply this tendency by several characters and one finds themselves re-reading passages for clarity.

Even with the above drawbacks, the book was well paced and easy to follow. If you enjoy this genre you should try this as the first book in the series and see if you can make friends with the girls.

I'm a great Brad Thor fan, but this book was a great disappointment. Poorly written, mediocre plot, really below Thor's standards. I gave up on it less than half way through. Shame on the author and the publisher.

MY HUSBAND LIKES THE THOR SERIES AND CHARACTER BUT NOT THIS ONE SO MUCH; WOMEN ARE THE MAIN CHARACTERS AND THOR HAS A HARD TIME MAKING THEM SEEM REAL; MALE HERO HE DOES REALLY WELL.

Good fast read. Women agents gave it another color. Hope to see more of them. Thor is right on keeping up in the world of technology.
