The first of her books I've read. I was surprised at how erotic it was (not being published by one of the erotica publishing houses). Definitely an author I will look for again!

I quit reading this book after about 100 pages -- possibly a new record! I found it boring, confusing, and idiotic and just couldn't bring myself to care about any of the one-dimensional characters. Don't waste your time with it.

Based on reviews on PBS, I forced myself to get through this entire book. It never improved. The characterization was flimsy, the plot was convoluted, and the love scenes were just bad. I do believe I'm done with Sylvia Day.

In spite of the other reviews, I thought this a good book. I thought the intrigue plot was a bit weak, but liked the story between the hero and heroine. It is a little spicier than your typical historical, but not too much so. Some of the supporting characters now have their own books (Christopher St. John is the hero in A Passion for the Game), and I have enjoyed them as well. Good light read.

Even though it had been four years since his fiancee, Elizabeth, scandalously jilted him at the altar, Marcus Ashford, the Earl of Westfield, had never forgotten her. Now the widow Lady Hawthorne, Elizabeth is free of any matrimonial bonds, and Marcus is determined to pursue her. When Marcus discovers that Elizabeth is in danger because of the coded diary left behind by her late husband, Marcus insists on being the one to protect Elizabeth since it will provide him with the perfect opportunity to seduce her into admitting he is the only man for her. One verrry hot read.

Disappointing 1770's romance about two angst-ridden lovers & some insipid political intrigue. The sex scenes were totally blah. The main characters were so self-absorbed I wanted to smack them. Even though I trudged through the entire book, I knew the ending almost right away.
