Very interesting book about the life of Artemisia Gentilleschi and the up-and-down relationship with her father. The author really allows you to identify with Artemisia during her teenage years and watch her transformation as she grows up, though the book dragged on a little toward the end with a lot of long & confusing descriptions about the Italian papal system, the papal states' rulers and lineage, etc. I'd still recommend this to anyone who's a fan of Renaissance and Baroque art history, Italian history, biographies, or even family sagas.
wonderful story of a great woman Renaissance painter.
Very good bookabout a female painter. When I have the time, I hope to do more research on her since this book inspired me.
